The MTMS Lady Panthers Basketball Team was back in action Monday afternoon against a tough Alder Avenue Middle School team. The Panthers were back on the court after two losses last week to RMT and Dennis Township. The team was hungry for a win to say the least. The last time Middle met Alder, the game ended in a 1 point win for the Panthers.
The team came out slow in the first half of the game, going into the third quarter in the deficit 18-11. Middle tied the third quarter with the Eagles and then went into the final quarter down 7 points. The team's spark came in the last 4 minutes of the game. With their press on, Middle continued to pressure Alder. In the end, the home team found the winners column and outscored their opponent 16-6 in the fourth quarter. The game ended with a score of 35-32 in favor of the Panthers. With this win, Middle is now 7-5 on the season. Leading the scores for the Panthers was Sarah Farrow with 10 points total and 8 of those points scored in the fourth quarter. Samantha Kretchmer was behind her with 9 points. Riley Odom ran the offense for Middle, finishing with 8 points. Izzy Miller and Hailey Estes each scored 3 points respectively. Finishing the box score was sixth grader Hannah O’Neal with 2 points in the second quarter. Shout out to our JV group who continued their winning streak with a win over the Eagles. They are now 8-0 on the season. Middle will host Fernwood EHT on Wednesday February 9th at the middle school. Tip off is at 4pm.
