Dixie Howell Tournament 12/16
The MTMS girls basketball team traveled to City Intermediate School again Thursday afternoon for their third and final game of the Dixie Howell Tournament. Middle would face off against a tough Fernwood team out of Egg Harbor Township. The Panthers found themselves down in the first half, going into the locker losing 15 to 10. Middle would end up tying the second half with the Mighty Eagles, but could not get over the two possession deficit. The Panthers would lose the game 25-20. Moving them to 1-2 on the season. Leaders in the scoring column for Middle included Hayli Estes, who knocked down a shot from beyond the arch in the second quarter and ended the game with 9 points. Izzy Miller also connected with the rim from deep for 3 points in the game. Ella Leahy found her shot in the second half for 4 points. Rounding out the box score included Sarah Farrow, Riley Odom and Samantha Kretchmer with two points each. Middle will take a break from play until after the holidays and travel to Teitelman for a rematch at Lower on January 4th at 4pm. Keep up the great work Panthers! 🧡🖤

The MTMS Girls Basketball team improved to a 5-3 record after their second game of the week Wednesday afternoon. Middle traveled to Pleasantville to take on the Greyhounds in their first meeting of the season. Seeking their 4th win in a row, the team came out ready to go, finishing the first half 31-0. All 18 players on the team roster found the hardwood. In the end, the Panthers came away with the victory, finishing the game with a 45-4 score.
Out of the 18 players who saw the floor, 10 players filled the box score. At the top of the list we’re Samantha Kretchmer and Ainsley Frederick who both tallied 8 points. Isabel Miller, Sarah Farrow and Hannah O’Neal each connected with the basket for 6 points. Shout out to 6th header Hannah O’Neal who knocked down her first three-pointer in her middle school career during the game! Alexia Davis ended the game with 4 points, while Riley Odom, Hayli Estes and Alexa Trombetta tallied two points respectively. Julia Clarke rounded out the score going 50% from the foul line for 1 point. Middle also played a 10 minute JV quarter where the JV group clinched their 5th straight win! Essence Still, Alexia Davis. Sophia Brown and Gabby Oliver all scores in the game. Awesome job from all players in both victories! The MTMS girls basketball team continued their consolation run in the Dixie Howell tournament Tuesday evening. Up against a rival Teitleman (Lower) team, the Panthers were ready to redeem themselves after a first round loss in the tournament. The team finished the first half up 20-9, keeping the Tigers to only 2 points in the second quarter. Middle was not done yet! The team kept their 11 point lead for the rest of the game, winning 32-21. Top leader of the Panthers for the game was Riley Odom who was hard to take off the court because of her offensive and defensive play. The point guard racked up 9 points, including one 3 pointer and went 2 for 3 at the foul line. Middle had 7 players score in the game. This included Samantha Kretchmer leading all scorers with 10 points. Hayli Estes knocked in a shot from beyond the arc in the second quarter, ending with 5 points. Sarah Farrow, Alexa Trombetta, Izzy Miller and Ainsley Frederick all balanced out the box score with 2 points each. The team will meet Fernwood tomorrow, Wednesday December 16th at 4pm in the final round of the Dixie Howell Tournament Consolation Bracket. Go Middle!! 🧡🖤 Dixie Howell Tournament 12/10
The MTMS girls basketball team started their season off in the Dixie Howell Tournament at Ocean City Intermediate Friday afternoon. Middle pulled Ocean City for their first round game and it was a tough one against the Red Raiders! With less than 2 weeks of practice in, the Panthers came out rusty to start. Middle lost the first half by 17 points. But, it was a different story for the back end of the game. The team settled in and ended up scoring 14 of their 18 points after halftime. Middle lost the second half by only 3 points. Middle was led by 7th grader Ella Leahy who connected with the rim twice and sank both free throws for a total of 6 points. Eighth graders Riley Odom and Sarah Farrow each had 4 points in the box score. Samantha Kretchmer and Hayli Estes rounded out the score with two points respectively. The game ended in a 38-18 loss for the panthers. The team will meet their next opponent on Tuesday, December 14th in the first round consolation game of the tournament. Great team effort from all!
