ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Volleyball Week 3 Areli Garcia Bruno This week’s Athlete of the Week goes to 8th grader Areli Garcia Bruno. Areli is a full virtual student who came out for the Volleyball team this year without attending any interest meetings prior to the first practice. She is a great leader on the court, showing her teammates how to work hard and grasp new concepts. Areli is also a great student in the classroom. Her teachers express that she is a model student and they really enjoy having her in their classes. Areli has not missed one practice or match all season, showing her drive to succeed and her commitment to her teammates! Areli has been part of the starting 6 rotation in every match for the season. She has a combined 16 aces in the 8 matches she played in. Although she did not rack up the team high for aces, Areli did all of the little things to make the team successful. Continuing volleys, setting up her teammates for hits over the net, and encouraging others during each set was crucial for the teams success. Specifically in the last set against Dennis Township on Monday (3/29), Areli came back into the match from the bench and helped the team come from behind to almost win the entire match! Congratulations to Areli Garcia Bruno for this week’s “Athlete of the Week!”
