The MTMS Girls Basketball team played in their fourth home game in a row Tuesday afternoon against the Lower Twp. Tigers. A rival game with much history between the two teams always leads to an action packed 24 minutes.
Middle started the game down 9-2 after the first quarter and needed to find a way out of the hole they dug themselves into. Adjusting their lineup to a smaller/ quicker group, Middle won the second quarter 12 to 6, going into the locker room at halftime down only by one point. The team came out in the second half to again win the third quarter by 8 points. Leading this quarter was 8th grader Valentina Rowell with 6 of her 8 points during these crucial minutes. By the end of the game, Middle would put another tally in the winning column, beating the Tigers 38-31. Other scorers in the game included Ainsley Frederick with a team high 11 points, Hannah O’Neal with 6 points, Kendall Hunter with 5 points, Izzy Miller with 3 points and Ella Leahy with 2 points respectively. Shout out to 6th grader Casey Day for her effort on the defensive end against the leading scorer on Lower’s team. She would end the game with 3 points. Awesome job to ALL players! Another great win at home! Middle moves to 9-4 on the season after Tuesday’s win. The Panthers will continue their season away at Dennis Township on Thursday, February 9th. Tip off is at 4pm. GO MIDDLE!
